Iron Ridge Fire Rescue is a 100% volunteer fire department serving the communities of Mountville Borough, West Hempfield Township, and surrounding municipalities. We are always looking for the next generation of volunteers to help serve their community.
Our History & Values
Iron Ridge Fire Rescue was formed through the merger of Mountville Fire Company #1 and West Hempfield Fire Rescue, bringing generations of volunteer service together under one name.
Our history stretches back to 1904 with the founding of Mountville Fire Company #1. West Hempfield Fire Rescue, established in 2000, carried forward the legacies of Ironville Fire Company, founded in 1944, and Silver Spring Fire Company, founded in 1948.
Today, Iron Ridge Fire Rescue continues these proud traditions as one all-volunteer department. By combining our resources and reducing duplicated efforts and administrative responsibilities, we strengthen our emergency response while honoring the volunteers who built our foundation.
JUNIOR FIREFIGHTER
Students ages 14-17
Junior Firefighters play a crucial role in emergency situations by assisting with scene support. These young individuals are vital to the fire service, as they not only aid in emergency situations but also observe and learn. Iron Ridge Fire Rescue provides all necessary equipment and training to support these future firefighters.
ADMINISTRATIVE & SUPPORT VOLUNTEERS
Fire company members play a vital role in managing the business side of things. They can assist with various tasks such as record-keeping, financial management, public education programs, station and equipment maintenance, fundraising, and special community events.
